General advice is one of our most commonly used templates. Thanks to lots of helpful feedback, we have reduced its prominence for patients.
We are doing this because:
We know that where an appropriate, specific condition template exists, it is clinically preferable to use that as opposed to general advice
Patients are seeking the most streamlined experience and are often over-using general advice without realising that a more specific template would be quicker
What change will you and your patients see?
The general advice option has now disappeared from the main header in the eConsult landing page (as shown in the first image below)
The term general advice has been changed to ‘other advice’ and has some additional explanatory text regarding when to use it. This will continue to be an option for patients that cannot find their specific condition (as shown in the second image below)
