This guide helps support practices that need to update their toolbar

The eConsult toolbar sits on your desktop and provides you access to the Smart Inbox it also makes responding to patients easier. Click here to download the toolbar.


The current toolbar version is 2.17.1

Following new releases to the toolbar all customers need to ensure they update the toolbar.

Checking your toolbar version

  1. To find out which version you are using, right click on the three dots in your toolbar, then click ‘settings’, and you will see the version number in the bottom right of the popup:

Updating the toolbar

The toolbar is often updated automatically or you'll see an orange banner above the toolbar stating ‘Click to update and restart the toolbar’. Users should be able to close and reopen the toolbar or press the Update button in the Settings section. If for any reason this doesn't work we recommend contacting your IT team as there could be an issue with the updates that they can help with, this could involve uninstalling and reinstalling the toolbar.

If you believe it has been successful we always recommend checking that the toolbar has updated as some IT systems mean that the toolbar can't update. In these case you will need to contact your IT department to help.
