Why This Matters

To better protect your account and patient data, we're introducing Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for users who log into Smart Inbox, Settings Portal and eConsult Lite via web browser using the “Log in with another email” option.

✅ This only applies to users who:

❌ This does not apply to:

  • Users logging in with “Log in with NHS mail”

  • Users accessing Smart Inbox via the toolbar integration (if you would prefer to change from using the browser to the toolbar you can download following these steps here).

✅ How to Set Up 2FA (Smartphone Method)

  1. Download an authenticator app (if you don’t already have one):

  2. Go to the Smart Inbox, Settings Portal and eConsult Lite login page

  3. Click “Log in with another email” and enter your credentials.

  4. When prompted, scan the QR code using your authenticator app.

  5. The app will generate a 6-digit code. Enter this to complete your login.

✅ You’ll need this code every time you log in.

📵 No Smartphone? No Problem.

You can use a SMS or email or download our toolbar. Here are your options:

Option 1: SMS or Email

For those that do not have a smart phone/2fa app

  1. Click on ‘try another method’

  2. Select ‘SMS’

  3. Make sure when entering your mobile number not to include the 0 at the beginning or the text with the code will not send

  4. A digital code will be sent to you in a text

  5. Enter this code

  6. You will then be given a recovery code you need to save somewhere to use as an alternative way to login if needed (didn't have your phone)

  7. When you go to log in future, you will need to enter the digit code sent to your phone

  8. You can also tick the box to remember you for 30 days so you don’t have to do this every time!

  9. Once you have set up with a phone, if you don't want to continue with SMS and want to have 2fa with email instead, when you go back to log in you can select ‘try another method’

  10. Select ‘email’

  11. Then you will get the code sent to your nominated email address (so you don’t have to have your phone on you!)

Option 2: Download our toolbar

  • Instead of using our browser, you can download our toolbar following these steps in our help article here (no 2fa on Smartphone or desktop needed).

  • You will need to reach out to us via live chat or email practice.support@econsult.health to obtain your eConsult ID and Practice ID details to login.

🔄 Shared Emails No Longer Supported

After enabling 2FA, shared email logins will not be supported. Each team member must log in using their individual email address to ensure secure access.

🛠️ Troubleshooting Tips

  • If you run into issues, try clearing your browser cache. Here's how to do it in Microsoft Edge.

  • SMS code not sending? Check to make sure the 0 at the beginning of your mobile number was not included!
