Why This Matters

To better protect your account and patient data, we're introducing Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for users who log into Smart Inbox via web browser using the “Log in with another email” option.

✅ This only applies to users who:

❌ This does not apply to:

  • Users logging in with “Log in with NHS mail”

  • Users accessing Smart Inbox via the toolbar integration (if you would prefer to change from using the browser to the toolbar you can download following these steps here).

✅ How to Set Up 2FA (Smartphone Method)

  1. Download an authenticator app (if you don’t already have one):

  2. Go to the Smart Inbox login page
    👉 https://inbox.econsult.health/workflow/login

  3. Click “Log in with another email” and enter your credentials.

  4. When prompted, scan the QR code using your authenticator app.

  5. The app will generate a 6-digit code. Enter this to complete your login.

✅ You’ll need this code every time you log in.

📵 No Smartphone? No Problem.

You can use a desktop-based authenticator instead, or download our toolbar. Here are your options:

Option 1: 1Password or LastPass

If you use one of these password managers:

  • Log into your account.

  • Open or create your Smart Inbox login item.

  • Add a 2FA field (TOTP).

  • Scan the QR code from Smart Inbox or enter the manual key.

  • Your password manager will now generate 6-digit codes for login.

Option 2: Authenticator Chrome Extension

  • Install: Authenticator Extension – Chrome Web Store.

  • Click the extension and add a new account.

  • Right-click the QR code on the login page → Copy image address.

  • In the extension, choose “Scan QR code from image” or enter the manual key.

  • The extension will now display your 2FA codes.

Option 3: Download our toolbar

  • Instead of using our browser, you can download our toolbar following these steps in our help article here (no 2fa on Smartphone or desktop needed).

  • You will need to reach out to us via live chat or email practice.support@econsult.health to obtain your eConsult ID and Practice ID details to login.

🔄 Shared Emails No Longer Supported

After enabling 2FA, shared email logins will not be supported. Each team member must log in using their individual email address to ensure secure access.
